Entry Visas

For foreigners who want to enter in Madagascar is obligatory to have an entry visa.

Before leaving, always consult the website of the Embassy of Madagascar in your country.

Visas are divided into two major groups:

  • 1) Visas for a period less or equal to 90 days
  • 2) long-stay visas for longer than 90 days

For the first, the simplest thing to do is to get a visa at the airport in Madagascar by paying the  fee, in this  case you have to queue at the airport a bit ’longer than those already with a visa  but it will avoid you to go to the Embassy of Madagascar  in your country before you leave.

Currently, for stays of up to one month the visa is free, for 2 months there’s a cost for stays up to 3 months the cost rises slightly. Go to the site of the embassy because these values may change over time.

On visas for stays exceeding 90 days, the situation is more complex and there may be various  needs/types:

  • a) Employees
  • b) Investor
  • c) Retired
  • d) Family reunification
  • e) Study

Check the website of the embassy of your country if it’s necessary to take the documentation  in your particular case.

Fortunately, the reality is much easier than it might appear  at first view, just rely on competent people  (usually Malagasy) that will do for you all the necessary for bureaucratic requirements, the only thing is the times are not very fast but at an acceptable cost.
